LET MY PEOPLE GO !
Throughout the history of Israel, the people were familiar with the Old Testament prophesies concerning the coming of God's Kingdom, in which He Himself would reign in absolute justice and righteousness.
It was important that the Children of Israel should be aware of those days which would lead up to the establishment of that Kingdom.....The Last Days. Through the Scriptures, God has taught Israel many things concerning this period in order to make them aware of His needs and the future condition of the twelve tribes themselves:
God sent The Messiah to introduce to His people the order and condition of His kingdom.
He chose twelve Apostles who would govern the twelve tribes. during the preparatory period.
He established many individual Israelites who were 'called out of The Messiah'...ekklEsia.
He promised to resurrect King David to occupy His throne in Israel whilst .....
God Himself would govern from Heaven.
He promised to pour out His Spirit upon all flesh in order to empower His authority.
And as far as all The Nations are concerned, He will resurrect a King, who has proved to be dedicated to Himself....King Nebuchadnezzar.
This period of introduction, The Last Days, was to last for 520 years. It began at the birth of Jesus Christ. It included God's action at the time of Pentecost in 30ad, when the Apostle Peter explained that the Jews on whom The Spirit had been poured, were not full of wine....
"but this is that which was spoken through the prophet Joel: And it shall come to pass in The Last Days saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh.....before that great and glorious day of The Lord come".
This introductory period continued in 45ad, being confirmed by the Apostle James in his letter to the twelve tribes where he said 'You have heaped up treasure in The Last Days'. Yet again, the writer to the Hebrews in 53ad tells them 'In these Last Days, God had spoken to us by His Son'. And finally, in 56ad with urgency the Apostle John writes to the 'little children' of Israel telling them: 'It is The Last Hour'.
But then, because God judged the Israelites to be unready, a great change takes place in 62ad. God refuses to accept the lukewarm attitude if His Children, telling them that they will no longer be able to understand or perceive His expression. nor be responsible for The Salvation of God, which would then pass to the nations.
For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. [Acts 28:27]
God's special relationship with His children was terminated and the remaining 485 years of The Last Days was postponed. because they were not ready for the full establishment of The Kingdom of Heaven in Israel.
It is clear from The Scripture that much yet needs to be fulfilled in the 520 years of The Last Days, so we recognize that God's withdrawal from His Children Israel, is only temporary. This is confirmed in two other letters, the first written by Peter in about 63ad, to the remaining faithful brethren when he writes 'there shall come in The Last Days, mockers'. Secondly, in 65ad the Apostle Paul tells us in his second letter to Timothy: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come'.
Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. [Isaiah 35:4-6]
When God does this, The Last Days will recommence. and the source of Salvation will return to The Jews.
Section 1. This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
This passage is addressed to Christians, but it describes men generally. It is the last recorded prophesy in The Scriptures concerning The Last Days. Many believe that the character of those described by this passage could relate to people living to-day. Finally, God describes a special condition which would arise at the time when His Children are being prevented from entering the kingdom which He has prepared for them:
Section 2. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
A typical analysis of its meaning can be read here.
However, it is true to say that this prophetic statement needs all its elements to be present before The Last Days will have recommenced. There are people who claim Godliness to-day, many of whom demonstrate their faith to be hollow and misguided. They are concerned primarily with affairs of this world and do not give their mind to things above. They demand from God those Spiritual gifts which God gave as a witness to the authority of His Kingdom in Israel, both of which were suspended in 62ad.
During this present time however, the Christian lives by the Grace of God alone, by faith and not by sight. He is challenged to live by faith upon God's Word alone. He awaits the re-establishment of this Kingdom subjecting the whole world, when God will again pour out His Spirit, then upon all flesh.
If Section 1 of this prophesy is active to-day, Section 2. most certainly is not, except in the very limited sense of demonic spirits attempting to counterfeit those Gifts of God described by Paul to the Corinthians.......healing, power, prophesy, teaching and tongues...etc.
Without going into the Greek and Hebrew semantics of the two names: Jannes and Jambres, it can be shown that they strongly resemble names of angelic powers who have been given guardianship of nations, two of which relate to the state of Egypt. At the time of Moses, Egypt was divided into upper and lower Kingdoms. We recall that God had placed an archangel Michael, to watch over the affairs of Israel. The Scriptures record that some angels, or 'princes' oppose the will of God. An example of which is the opposition of the 'prince' of Persia to the angel Gabriel. [Daniel 10:12-14].
These are the powers which lay behind the Egyptian magicians or magi, when they opposed the demand of God, delivered by Moses and Aaron.......'Let My People Go!' These angelic powers attempted to belittle the actions and power of God by copying, or counterfeiting His challenging acts. The heart of the Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, was hardened. He did not submit to the miraculous judgments imposed upon his country.
The passage in Section 2. tells us that the type of man living at the time when The Last Days recommence. resists the Truth in the same way as the magi were empowered to resist the miracles of God by Moses and Aaron. It tells us that they are' of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.' These are strong words explaining their depravity and corruption, and as far as faith in God is concerned they are unworthy, disapproved, impossible to stand the test of Godliness. This implies that they will attempt to proclaim Godliness before all men,
So, what exactly does the Scripture mean when it says: 'Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth'. These angelic powers counterfeited the actions of God, that is clear. So in that way, when The Last Days recommence, unGodly, unworthy and disapproved men will counterfeit the Truth, that is the fact expressed in The Scriptures. It does not say that they will counterfeit the coming actions of God, although that may be possible. But there is one interesting point which is common to both the actions of the evil magi and the prophesied actions of the unGodly men. Both actions are cut short by God's intervention.
The magi are able to counterfeit three actions of God's judgements, firstly Aaron's rod changed to a serpent, secondly the waters of the Nile turned to blood and finally the frogs introduced into all the intimate activities of the people of Egypt. Against this we are told that when the Last Days recommence, there will come a point in the actions counterfeiting The Truth when God will not allow these unGodly men to continue.
The Question arises:
1. Can we gain Spiritual insight into the details of these coming actions of the fulfilment of The Truth and its counterfeit by these unGodly men ?
2. Further, can these actions in any way be enlightened by a deeper understanding of the counterfeited actions of God before Pharaoh ?
From the Scriptures, we know what God will do to re-establish the authority of His Children, the Tribes of Israel, as soon as The Last Days recommence. At the rebellion[1Kings 12:1-24], the twelve tribes were split into two factions. This was an act of God making the ten rebellious tribes act under the title of Ephraim, and the two honourable tribes under the title of Judah. Later in 680bc, God told Ephraim, by the prophet Hosea, that the ten tribes would become 'Not my People' and be scattered in the world. Much later in 62ad God Spiritually blinded and deafened Judah because of their lukewarm attitude to the introduction of His Kingdom, but He will, in His mercy, reverse these actions when He determines to establish His Kingdom.[Isaiah 35:4-6]
Firstly, He will reverse his action of Spiritual blindness and deafness imposed in 62ad[Acts 28:26-27], upon The House of Judah-Israel, the Jews by the prophesy of Paul the Apostle.
Isaiah 35:4
Secondly, He will no longer regard the House of Ephraim-Israel as 'Not my People', a condition imposed upon them in about 680bc[Hos 1:8-9] by the prophesy of Hosea.
and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, 'Ye are Not my People', there it shall be said to them 'Ye are the Sons of The Living God'. Hosea 1:10
Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her. And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: ................. And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel. And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God. Hosea 2:14
By this God will be telling the world that the twelve tribes of Israel are His Children. He will probably have to plead with the nations to 'Let my people go', because, as we have seen above, Israel is at present scattered throughout the world and must return to their promised land before the Kingdom can be established with their King at the head. The Land is at present occupied by a people calling themselves 'Israelis', the majority of whom are not the people of God. This mixture of peoples is there in defiance of God's purposes, even as the Canaanites and Nephilim were, prior to the occupation of Canaan by Joshua and the Israelites in 1454bc.
Let us now look in more detail at the first four miraculous acts of God imposed upon Egypt and Pharaoh in order to persuade them to release the twelve tribes of Israel. These are detailed in A. B. C. AND D. BELOW.
A. And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For they cast down each man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.
And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said. [Ex. 7:8]
Aaron's rod or staff was the symbol of his authority in relation to the tribes of Israel. In fact the Hebrew word for it contains also the meaning of 'tribe', especially that of the tribes of Israel. In the Old Testament times, Egypt was known as a type of the world. The Magi, by casting their staffs down before Aaron and Moses were stating their authority over the tribes of the world. However, when the staves became serpents, the final authority of the tribe of Israel was demonstrated by Aaron's staff swallowing those of the magi.
This ultimate authority of Israel in the world, is stated in many ways and many places in the Scripture, but the action of the magi at the time of Moses, teaches us that at the time of the recommencement of The Last Days, when God again calls Ephraim-Israel 'His People' and grants Spiritual sight and hearing to Judah-Israel, we can expect to see God's action counterfeited by the authority of other tribes.
What other tribes would regard themselves as having such authority?
It is not difficult to perceive who the principle tribes will be. Although the Children of Israel are the tribe chosen by God, both the tribes of Ishmael and that of Esau believe that they have good reason to challenge God who chose
Isaac before Ishmael his elder brother,
Jacob before Esau his twin elder brother.
1. Ishmael was the firstborn of Abraham. Normally the inheritance of the promises made to Abraham would have been his. However God had already determined that His promise of a son for Abraham would be honoured in due time and upon that son Isaac, would the birthright continue. This gave Ishmael cause for jealousy and hate against Isaac and his descendents. But God said:
And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. Genesis 17:20
Nevertheless, as we know to-day, the descendants of Ishmael, the Arab nations, desire only the death of Israel. In order to establish the continuity of this relationship, the Scripture lists his twelve sons:
Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham: And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael,
Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel,
and Mibsam, And Mishma, and Dumah,
and Massa, Hadar, and Tema,
Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:
These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations. G
enesis 25:12It is the descendants of these twelve sons who to-day confront Israel and the Jews worldwide.......Syria, Iran, The Palestinians, and all those who are influenced by the proposition that, if Israel is disposed of, they will inherit the promises made to him.
2. Esau himself, became very bitter against his younger twin brother, Jacob/Israel.
He had lost his birthright when he gave it to Jacob It included:
(1) the Father's blessing and supremacy, all those made to Abraham and Isaac including the covenant made by God with Abram in Genesis 13:18-20:
To thy seed I have given this land from the river of Egypt as far as the Great River, the river Euphrates..........The Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim, and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.
(2) A double portion
(3) The domestic priesthood
It came about in this way:
And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom ['red' after the red pottage]. And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. GEN 25:30
He had lost his blessing as the elder son when Jacob deceived him:
God give thee of the dew of heaven,
and the fatness of the earth,
and plenty of corn and wine:
Let people serve thee,
and nations bow down to thee:
be lord over thy brethren,
and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee:
cursed be every one that curseth thee,
and blessed be he that blesseth thee.
It was taken from him by subterfuge and by God's allowance because he unfaithfully disregarded the authority of God Himself. It came about in this way:
And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife
Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and
Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:
Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah. And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I. And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death: Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son.
And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it. And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying, Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the LORD before my death. Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee. Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth: And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.
And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man: My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing. And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them. And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.
And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son: And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:
And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob. And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son? And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy first born; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.
And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me. And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not. And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.
And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands: so he blessed him. And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am. And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine and he drank. And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son. And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him,
Here the deceit reaches its height, Abraham believing that it is Esau who has provided the savoury meat and the bread, gives Esau's blessing to Jacob saying:
See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed
And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
The plot is discovered and Esau is distraught
And Esau also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son's venison, that thy soul may bless me.
And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau. And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.
And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father. And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.
And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?
And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son? And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father.
And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept. And Isaac his father answered and said unto him,
Isaac then gives what blessing he can to Esau
Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth,
and of the dew of heaven from above;
And by thy sword shalt thou live,
and shalt serve thy brother;
and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion,
that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.
There follows Esau's expression of hatred of Jacob which has prevailed from that time forward
And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.
And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee. Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran; And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother's fury turn away; Until thy brother's anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day? Genesis 26:34
Esau became a great nation by marrying the daughters of Canaan......the Hittite and the Hivitite women, and the daughter of Ishmael
Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom. Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite; And Bashemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth. Genesis 36:1
And Adah bare to Esau........................Eliphaz;
and Bashemath bare........................... Reuel;
And Aholibamah bare.......................... Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah:
these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan. And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob. For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.
Moving away from Jacob, Esau came to dwell in Mount Seir, the home of The Nephilim.
Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom. And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:
These are the names of Esau's sons;
1. Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau,And the sons of Eliphaz were
Teman,
Omar,
Zepho, and
Gatam, and
Kenaz.
2. And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son;
and she bare to Eliphaz
Amalek:
these were the sons of Adah Esau's wife.
3. Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.
And these are the sons of Reuel;
Nahath, and
Zerah,
Shammah, and
Mizzah:
these were the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.
4. And these were the sons of Aholibamah,
the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: and she bare to Esau
Jeush, and
Jaalam, and
Korah.
The scripture then repeats the names of all the sons of Esau, calling them dukes, thirteen in all with one addition, making fourteen, duke Korah, who presumably was not 'born unto him in the land of Canaan.'
These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn son of Esau;
duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz, Duke Korah, duke Gatam, and duke Amalek:
these are the dukes that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.
And these are the sons of Reuel Esau's son;
duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah:
these are the dukes that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.
And these are the sons of Aholibamah Esau's wife;
duke Jeush, duke Jaalam, duke Korah:
these were the dukes that came of Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.
These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their dukes. [14 in all]
With this well detailed list, we might think that this would be all that was needed to define those that dwelt in the Land of Edom, i.e. The Land of Esau. Not so! The Scripture continues to put before us those that dwelt with the Dukes of Esau, the sons of Seir the Horite. These are those who were descended from Cain by his sons, The Nephilim. These two generations are of the same mind, to utterly resist the plans and purposes of God. So the Scripture goes on to define the Horites:
GEN 36:20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; the dukes that came of the Horites;
duke Lotan,
duke Shobal,
duke Zibeon,
duke Anah,
duke Dishon,
duke Ezer,
duke Dishan:
these are the dukes that came of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir.
And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.
And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhabah. And Bela died,
and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead. And Jobab died,
and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his stead. And Husham died,
and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name
of his city was Avith. And Hadad died,
and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead. And Samlah died,
and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead. And Saul died,
and Baalhanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead. And Baalhanan the son of Achbor died,
and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the
daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.
And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names;
duke Timnah,
duke Alvah,
duke Jetheth,
duke Aholibamah,
duke Elah,
duke Pinon,
duke Kenaz,
duke Teman,
duke Mibzar,
duke Magdiel,
duke Iram:
these be the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the father of the Edomites.
This tediously long list of the family of The House of Esau and those with whom they dwelt, the Horites, is defined with great care in the Scripture. There is no greater generation except those which define that of The Lord Jesus Christ.
We might ask, why?
All these men and women are defined and accountable. They form the basis of the continuous opposition to the House of Israel. They chose to dwell with the remnant of the generation of Cain, the Nephilim, to form a united opposition to all that God purposes on this planet Earth.
The relationship between Cain's generation and that of Esau Has been hidden from students of The Word of God because of three major errors of interpretation:
Failure to appreciate that the name 'Nephilim' meaning 'fallen ones' [Hebrew: oylpnh] is a description of the condition of their founder, Cain whose character before God was determined by his rebellion described by the phrase in the KJV as 'his countenance fell'. The Scripture tells us that Cain 'was wroth'. In the Amplified Bible Cain's condition is described as 'exceedingly angry and indignant, he looked sad and depressed'. The key to this condition is in the Hebrew: lp the root of the word 'fall'.
The misinterpreting of the following sentence from chapter 6 of Genesis:
There were Nephilim in the Earth in those days; and also after that, when the Sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown
Several classes of individual beings are referred to here: The Nephilim, The Sons Of God, The daughters of Men, children and mighty men, men of renown. It is grammatically clear that it is The Sons of God that have children by the daughters of men. There is no doubt concerning that as a fact.
Where the general interpretation is incorrect is the assumption that 'the same' i.e. 'the children' refers to The Nephilim, whereas a correct reading relates the 'children' to the mighty men/the men of renown. Put simply, The Nephilim are stated to be present in the Earth when the Sons of God came in unto the daughters of men. By this it is clear that The Nephilim are a separate class of individual.
This misinterpretation has been perpetuated by an interpretation of a corrupt passage in the Greek version of The Book of Enoch chapter VII verses 1 and 2.
Failure to recognise that the statement 'These are the Generations of The Heaven and The Earth' in Genesis chapter 2 refers to that which follows and not that which precedes. The Book of Genesis is divided into Generations, details of which are given following every statement: 'These are the Generations[ hdlt....HDLT ] of.........'. The Generation in question is the first such list, defining those who generated The Heavens and those who generated The Earth. It deals with the story of Adam and Eve with their three sons Cain, Able and Seth. Adam to Cain is shown to generate the Heavens [Cain tells God: 'Behold, thou hast driven me out from the face of The Earth' Gen 4:14 See also here] and Adam to Seth is that generation which the Scripture record tells us has generated The Earth [See the generations of Adam...Gen 5:1].
From these points it is clear that The Nephilim, i.e. The Generation of Cain, occupied the Heavens, i.e. the planets[see here] and returned to Earth at the time that the Sons of God sinned before their Father. We know that The Universal Flood was God's Judgement upon all mankind, cleansing The Earth of the genetic pollution caused by The Sons of God. The Nephilim returned to Earth after The Flood, living amongst men and according to Scripture generating many tribes by different names such as: The Rephaim, the Zuzim, the Zamzuzim, the Horites, the Anakim etc. They dwelt in Mount Seir and were joined later by the generation of Esau, i.e. Edom.
The following chart shows Cain's family tree, concluding with that tribe which perpetuated his name, The Kenites[/yq].
To summarise:
1. The Kenites were descended directly from the Horites.
2. The Horites occupied Mount Seir.
3. The Horites [Horim] were of the Nephilim.
4. Seir was the home of the Edomites [Esau].
5. The Edomites lived with the descendents of the Nephilim.
Thus the tribes of Cain and Esau were joined in their opposition to God's people Israel together with the tribe of Ishmael:
1. Cain by his resentment and exile from the generation of Adam/Seth and
2. Esau/Edom by the loss of his birthright and blessing.
3. Ishmael is included because of the loss of his inheritance as firstborn.
Therefore in conclusion, we can recognize the Spiritual meaning of the actions of Moses and his opponents The Magi, before Pharaoh King of Egypt. The tribe of Israel will overcome the opposition of those tribes which are determined on his downfall. The Scriptures confirm this action throughout the words of the prophets.
