The Significance of God's Forty-Nine Year Timing

The fundamental of God’s expression, His Word, is numerical, not alphabetical. It is for this reason that it cannot be broken and is absolute in its meaning. Two plus two will always be four. God’s judgement cannot be misinterpreted or wrongly applied. God always encourages the believer to look behind the semantics at its numerical foundation. His constant repetition of numbers relating to the ages of the patriarchs, the reigns of the kings, the periodic Jubilees and the use of the base number seven when describing many of His acts should raise their curiosity.

The fundamental timing of seven Shemittahs [seven years] making one Jubilee [forty-nine years] leads the Bible student into an understanding of God’s Word which enlightens and expands the whole of his previous studies.

 This may be for some Christians the realisation that

The God of our Lord Jesus Christ, The Father of Glory may give unto you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened  [Eph 1:17-18]

But for others, whose attention to God's Word is locked into a teaching limited by Church traditions, which work against God's desire that they might know what is the hope of God's calling and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints [Eph 1:17-23]

…...seeing you are dull of hearing, for when for the time you ought to be teachers, you have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk and not of strong meat. For every one that uses milk is unskilful in the Word of Righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil  .[Heb 5:11-14]

 Those Christians who are restrained by a Christian tradition which they heard in Sunday School, Youth Group or even from the pulpit of to-days Churches. will not accept the Godly understanding of the Numerical base of His Word, preferring to be guided by the prejudice of self appointed teachers rather than seeking to know if these things are so for themselves. The writer fell under such restraints and false limitations during the early days of his walk with Christ. It was not until he resisted those prejudices by seeking a deeper relationship with God’s intelligence that he came to know the full meaning of the Word….If The Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. [John 8:36]

 DATING THE 49 YEAR TIMING OF ISRAEL’S JUBILEES

 For those of us who are willing to give attention to the importance of the dating of Israel’s Jubilees, we must first recognise the date at which they commence. There is no difficulty in summating the ages of the patriarchs, starting at the time of the sin of Adam, both before and after the universal flood, totals 2238 years. Following this, the addition of [1] the number of years that the Israelites were living in Egypt from the time that Jacob entered to the exodus of the twelve tribes, just four hundred years. Afterwards [2] the forty years of their wilderness wanderings. This brings us to their entry into The Land of Canaan by the crossing of the Jordan river. It then took the Israelites ten years to partially fulfill God’s command to eliminate all the Canaanite tribes, before they could then divide and occupy the Land, planting seed at the start of the first Jubilee. All these events therefore totalled: 2238 + 400 + 40 + 10 = 2688 years.

We need now to recognise the date on which Adam sinned. This was readily known throughout all the years leading to the time of Christ by their acceptance of the record of The Apocalypse of Weeks found in the Godly inspired Book of Enoch. Prejudice and higher criticism have over many years blocked this section of The Word of God from the Christian mind. There is no doubt that those ‘authorities’ who will readily deny this fact, will have little or no understanding of this inspired book’s contents. Both the Old and New Testaments authenticate this inspired book by over three hundred references

An introduction and description of the fundamental details of this Godly inspired book can be found in the translation by R.H.Charles [ISBN: 1-56459-523-4] Comments on its contents, particularly the importance of Enoch’s dream vision of The Apocalypse of Weeks can be read in the By Grace leaflets Nos: 11, 22, 23, 24. From an understanding of this Apocalypse the date of the sin of Adam can be easily determined, 4132bc. This sin introduced death upon all mankind and is therefore the point from which all the ages and dates can be summated. With obedience to God’s Word, the Israelites would therefore have planted seed in 1444bc [4132--2688] and have celebrated their First Jubilee in the year 1395bc 

 This date can be checked against the knowledge that The Lord Jesus Christ returned to His home town of Nazareth according to the law of Jubilee [Leviticus ch: 25] in 27ad at the time of His commissioning in the town’s synagogue [Luke 4:14-22]. The years between the planting of seed in Canaan and Christ’s commissioning are therefore 1444bc + 27ad [-1...no zero year] = 1470 years, which when divided by 49 tells us that it was the date of the 30th Jubilee

It is interesting to note that the Rabbis of Jewish society cannot acknowledge this fact [See Acts 28:26-27] because it is based upon the Godly inspired record of the New Testament, which at present they deny.

The studies of the meaning of Bible Numerics by Dr.S.F.Jones, tells us: 

49 is the number of Jubilee or deliverance. It is the issue of 7x7   (7 squared), and points to deliverance and rest following on as the result of the perfect consummation of time.

 The 49 year timing of the Jubilees establishes many dates of events in God’s relationship with Israel. The 49 year time span is also used by God when He  determines many of His other activities. From the information now available, a number of important dates can be calculated.

IMPORTANT JUBILEES

The first seven weeks or 49 years of the seventy weeks [490 years] of Daniel’s prophecy concerning his People and his Holy City, is the time when the commissioned Christ, by His ministry and that of the apostles establishes the foundation upon which the kingdom in Israel will be introduced. The commandment to initiate this goes forth after the 49 years. Therefore 27ad + 49 years = 76ad, the 31st Jubilee.

As we know, this did not happen at that time because God intervened in 62ad Spiritually blinding the Jews because of their intransigence by refusing wholeheartedly to accept their Saviour, Jesus Christ, and the introduction of His kingdom. God imposed this postponement in order to introduce an Administration of His Grace [Eph: 3:1-10] which has privileged mankind for many years since. Bible scholars are coming to recognise that this act of restraint upon the Jews will last for 1960 years [40 x 49. See By Grace No:85], having begun in 62ad will end in 2022ad when the Jews will regain their Spiritual sight [Isaiah 35:4-5]

 Of the first 49 years of Daniel’s prophecy only 35 have been completed, the remaining 14, commencing at 2022ad will culminate in the commandment going forth to rebuild Jerusalem in 2036ad at the time of the 71st Jubilee.  After a further 441 years, Daniel’s prophecy ends at the time of the Great Tribulation around the year 2477ad at the time of the 80th Jubilee when the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of Our Lord and of His Christ [Rev 11:15]. This event preludes the second coming of our Saviour [Rev 19:11-16].

Finally, through the clear limitations of the timings of The Apocalypse of Weeks we know that God will conclude all His work concerning the Children of Righteousness in 4829ad at the 128th Jubilee. After this, following the uniting of all things in Christ [Eph 1:10] God introduces the New heavens and the New Earth. [see By Grace leaflets 79 to 84].

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE 49 YEAR SPAN IN THE ACTS OF GOD

When considering the timing of God’s events it can be shown that a 49 year time span is of great importance. It must be regarded as the basis upon which the acts of God are determined. Many examples are given below.
